Telegram users can now send crypto (#Toncoin) directly within chats!
Similar to Twitter’s Bitcoin payments feature…
Telegram (TG for short) is one of the best resources for staying up to date on the latest cryptocurrency trends, alongside Twitter and YouTube. TG has 550+ million monthly active users and expects to reach over one billion users by the end of 2022…
An exciting announcement for crypto users was recently made by the instant-messaging app! According to a tweet posted on April 26, Telegram has recently begun accepting crypto payments via Toncoin. The new crypto payments feature allows users to send Toncoin to other Telegram users without any transaction fees!

The Open Network (TON) is a fully decentralized layer-1 blockchain founded by Telegram in 2017 to provide decentralized storage, anonymous networks, DNS, instant payments, and other decentralized services using a proof-of-stake mechanism. Members of the blockchain community came together to form the TON Foundation in order to keep Telegram’s crypto efforts alive. TON boasts ultra-fast transactions, tiny fees, easy-to-use apps, and is environmentally friendly.
So far, the Toncoin platform has seen over 52 million transactions and has over 489,000 wallets.
How does it work?
A short video posted by TON demonstrates how crypto transactions work on Telegram.
To get started, users must add wallet bot to their Telegram menu, which allows to purchase cryptocurrency by bank card, exchange, and transfer to other wallets. After adding it, users type the “/start” command, and a secondary menu with additional settings and support options will appear. Following that, users add it to the attachment menu in order to access the wallet bot from any chat window.
Finally, a chat notification “You can now send #Toncoin directly within Telegram chats!” appears after successfully completing the process!
Voila, ready to send!
Hopefully, more applications for crypto transaction process will encourage global adoption and help to integrate blockchain payment solutions into people’s daily lives.
